Launching soon. Be among the first to get involved

SafeDormitory was born from a simple, painful truth: too many Kenyan students have gone to sleep in boarding dormitories and never woken up. Fires at Utumishi Girls, Kyanguli, Moi Girls Nairobi, and countless other schools are not distant headlines. They are reminders that regulation alone has not been enough.

We are a pre-launch national initiative focused on affordable fire detection and response technology for schools: smart sensors, automated alarms, emergency notifications, and coordinated response support. Our goal is not to replace existing safety rules, but to give schools practical tools that work when every second counts.

We believe in transparency. We have not yet partnered with or deployed systems in any school, and that honesty is part of how we build trust. What we offer today is clarity about the problem, documentation of past tragedies so they are never forgotten, and an open invitation for technologists, parents, educators, and partners to help us launch responsibly.

Whether you bring engineering skill, community reach, or simply the conviction that no parent should fear a dormitory fire, there is a place for you in this effort. Together, we can move from mourning tragedies to preventing them.

What Supporters Say About SafeDormitory

Every child deserves to come home from school. When I learned how many young lives have been lost in dormitory fires, often preventable with the right technology, I knew I had to stand behind this work. SafeDormitory is not about fear; it is about giving parents peace of mind and giving students a fair chance to grow up. If we can build solutions here in Kenya, we can show the world what compassionate innovation looks like.
